Kelsey McGreer
January 19 Member Spotlight

Our Rotary club is about so much more than just getting together for socialization. We have a tremendous group of talented and special people, so we've decided to take some time at each meeting to Shine A Spotlight on one of our members.

Kelsey McGreer shared with us that she just bought a new house with her new husband, in lieu of a honeymoon (due to the current climate).  What a resourceful young lady.  She works for the Lincoln/Lancaster County Visitors Bureau. She shared with us that her industry has definitely had to shift its focuses during the past year.

Thank you, Kelsey, for sharing your enthusiasm and vitality with our group!
Becky's Beds
Becky's Beds of Bags on Facebook will provide you all the current information.

If you have bags to contribute you can bring them to our meetings, or arrange with Julie Brezenski to pick them up.

We had a great turnout for this week's meeting, and we're so pleased to learn about the road Becky has been on since just last December.

She had too many plastic recyclable bags laying around unused and decided to do something about it.  Neither she nor her husband could've expected that just a short month and a half later she would have distributed over 20 "beds" to the homeless using those bags.

She considers this "therapy", and even her 80 years young mother has been helping out with this project.

She has created a Facebook community, which she encouraged us to join. https://www.facebook.com/groups/3826138414076527

January 19 Meeting
Thank You All For a Spectacular Turnout for our January 19 Meeting! We had a turnout of almost half our members.

Membership is climbing  - we're currently at 34 members.

Brad spoke with Brandon McWilliams, Strengthfinder coach
We are discussing having Brandon McWilliams back (presenter at our January 5th meeting) to go over your individual results and a 2 hour coaching session!  If you did not have the opportunity to sign the Interested Sign-Up Sheet please reach out via email or check out his website at www.mcwilliamscoaching.com. Just another benefit of belonging to Lincoln's Best Evening Rotary :)

The board has decided to continue our tradition of service by assisting Becky in making her Beds for the Homeless.  We'll be collecting plastic recyclable grocery bags and make plarn balls at our next meeting.  Our goal is to make 3 - 350 bag plarn balls.  Becky needs 700 bags to make one bed, so this will get her 1-1/2 beds!

Once again, Carla came through with a phenomenal speaker!  Becky was engaging, delightful, and informative as she shared with us her "adventures" with hand crocheting recyclable bags into beds for the homeless.  Also, a special thanks to all of our members for making her feel comfortable by asking insightful questions.

This week we had three guests in attendance, 6 via zoom, and 12 members in person.  That is a great turnout, and one we hope to continue to grow from!

Our meeting ended early at 6:48pm.

Please mark your calendars for our next meeting Tuesday, February 2.  Keep saving your bags ... you can even start a collection from your friends, family, and neighbors.
